All Members Meeting 10th December

Fair Deal for

“Birmingham is facing the end of Local Government as we know it”, said Albert Bore as he exposed the sheer scale of cuts to the City Council’s funding. In what are the biggest cuts in Local Government history, high need, high unemployment Birmingham faces the loss of £600 million. And to add insult to injury, Eric Pickles is penalising Birmingham, treating our City unfairly. Every Brummie loses £166. Wokingham in the leafy Southern shires but £9.

Labour was elected to stand up for Birmingham. We knew times would be tough because of Government cuts. Now we know things are even worse. The previous Tory/Lib Dem administration not only failed to stand up for Birmingham but has also left a terrible financial legacy. Their silence is now deafening.  But we will speak up for this City. We will fight for a Fair Deal for Birmingham. And we will ensure that the blame for any cut is hung around the neck of those who are responsible, the Tories and the Lib Dems.

The All Members Meeting on 10th December will launch our campaign to mobilise our members and the people of Birmingham for a Fair Deal. The meeting will take place on Monday 10th December in the CWU Regional Office, 46-48 Summer Lane, Birmingham B19 3TH, commencing at 7.00 p.m. and concluding by 9.15 p.m. Put the date in your diary now. And be there! The Party and the City need you to play your part.

Thank you.
